Job Description
Job Requirements Currently New Line is looking to recruit undergraduate students for credit only. Students with related majors are encouraged to apply. Listed below are the specific descriptions of these internships. Other departments included but not listed below are: Picturehouse Marketing, Television, Television & Ancillary Accounting and Television Marketing ACCOUNTING: Finance, Accounting, and Economics majors welcome Students will gain hands on experience working on various accounting related projects within our Music, Merchandising, and Television divisions. Major responsibilities will be to analyze royalty reports received, assist in preparing for participation audits, and contact various vendors and licensees to reconcile or collect payment via phone or letter. Other administrative duties: typing, photocopying, faxing, filing, mailing and covering phones. Must have strong interest in the accounting aspect of the entertainment industry. Proficient in MS Word and Excel. Must have excellent follow up skills, be detail-oriented and organized. ADMINISTRATION: All majors welcome Intern will gain overall understanding of the various areas of Administration such as human resources, travel and office services. Responsibilities include maintaining contact with vendors, volunteer organizations, and colleges to utilize for company and department events (i.e.: job fairs, holiday party, etc.) Intern will research content and create designs to be placed on company bulletin boards, help organize and prepare for the company summer party and contribute ideas and suggestions for company’s newly designed Intranet website. Other duties include assisting with intern events (including updating PowerPoint presentations, setting up conference rooms, and advertising events to interns), assisting with organizing volunteer projects and updating department filing system. Intern must be personable, detail-oriented, creative, and internet savvy. Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities are a must. Must be a self-starter who will share ideas and suggestions. BUSINESS & LEGAL AFFAIRS: Law students welcome Students get hands-on, day-to-day glimpse of a Hollywood studio in action as part of a busy department involved in the business and legal end of the film industry. Intern will be under the supervision of the VP of Business Affairs Administration in the Business & Legal Affairs department. Intern will become familiar with industry specific legal and related issues. Will have general administrative duties (i.e., photocopying, filing, faxing, phone coverage) with opportunities to work on special projects such as researching information on the Screen Actors Guild, contracts, or agents in the industry. Must be computer literate, organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills. DEVELOPMENT: All majors welcome Intern will assist a fast paced, creative department with various administrative duties such as heavy phone coverage, filing, copying, etc. Interns will have the great opportunity to learn how a development office operates, learn about casting, and provide feedback on potential projects. Must be able to utilize downtime by reading scripts, give notes on priority projects, read coverages, contracts. Intern must be very detail oriented, efficient, with strong organizational skills. Must have a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and take initiative. Strong interest in film development is required. Previous administrative experience is highly preferred. ECOMMERCE: All majors welcome Gain experience in E-Commerce and an overall understanding of the role and future of New Media in the film/entertainment industry. Assist department with graphics production and maintenance of various New Line and Fine Line Web sites and help with the general administration of www.NewLineShop.com and www.WBshop.com. The intern will be assisting merchandisers, buyers and customer service representatives for our online shop. Duties include filing, faxing, organizing invoices, customer service, contacting vendors and other varied projects. Must be an enrolled student and available at least one or two full days a week. Knowledge of Internet, MS Word, MS Excel required. Great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in New Media and/or entertainment. HOME ENTERTAINMENT: Finance/Business Management/Accounting majors preferred Gain an overall understanding of Home Entertainment. Intern will need to be detail oriented and very willing to ask questions, with knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel. Intern will learn about our competitive sales database and how to input data. Also responsible for filing, creating files, cataloging VHS/DVD, transfiling & sorting of various documents and statements, printing reports, and assist in various HE publicity functions. Learn general administrative tasks, and be responsible for filling in for either of the two Home Entertainment assistants from time to time. These duties will include answering the phones, typing memos, sending faxes and sorting mail. This is an opportunity to learn specifically how the Home Entertainment department functions, as well as gain general knowledge about the booming DVD industry and how a film studio office functions. Some office experience is a big plus. Ambitious and good attitude a must! LICENSING & MERCHANDISING: Marketing majors preferred Interns will have the opportunity to learn the licensing business from start to finish: finding a project, reading the scripts, suggesting ideas, etc. The intern's major responsibilities will be to organize art files and sample closet, photocopying, aid the department in providing artwork and marketing materials to licensees, and other administrative tasks. The interns will also have the opportunity to aid in the creation of merchandise, including prototype design and packaging. Performance will be based on their originality, tenacity and independence. MUSIC AFFAIRS: All majors welcome Interns will gain an overall view of how the music department in a film company operates. The intern will survey each stage of the music licensing process by assisting and observing the personnel in the departments. The major responsibilities of the interns will include organizing the music files, faxing correspondence, photocopying, reading scripts and other administrative tasks. Interns must be organized and willing to ask questions. NATIONAL PROMOTIONS: Marketing or Finance majors welcome Intern will assist the Promotions department. Duties include administrative assignments as well as assisting with special marketing/promotions assignments including research on potential promotional partners and aiding the department with special screenings. Must be extremely organized, responsible, detailed oriented, possess excellent communication and computer skills, have ability to take initiative, handle a high-pressure environment as well as multiple task. NEW MEDIA: All majors welcome Gain experience in Web production and an overall understanding of the role and future of New Media in the film/entertainment industry. Assist department with graphics production and maintenance of various New Line and Fine Line Web sites. Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop desired. Experience with Flash and Web audio/video a plus. Must be Web savvy and have a “can do” attitude! PICTUREHOUSE: All majors welcome Picturehouse is the independent feature film division of New Line Cinema. Interns will serve in a general office facility, assisting all departments including Distribution, Marketing, Publicity, Theatrical Finance & Accounting, and Acquisitions. This internship is highly administrative in nature and interns must be able to use MS Office as well as operate basic office machinery. We're seeking enthusiastic interns who are willing to commit to a minimum of two days per week.
